The statue was found in December 2019, without proper maintenance, and was being used to tie cattle to the bank of the pond. Tamil nadu History enthusiasts say that many statues like this dilapidated statue are found from time to time in some villages in all talukas in Tamil Nadu without exception.

 

This small temple, located on the bank of the pond of this village, a shrine was built over the 13^th century statue by the Ahimsa Walk, Charitable Organization, with the financial support of Mr. Jeevadas and his family on Jan - 2023.

 

Jainism once flourished in Tamil Nadu, and there were many temples and statues. But now many Jain symbols and statues are being destroyed without proper maintenance. The Thiruvankaranai statue is one of them. It is necessary to protect Jain symbols, and we are also seeing the demand for the protection of the identities of the Jains arising among many history enthusiasts and being brought to the attention of the government every day through the news media.

திருவரங்கரனை - ஸ்ரீ மஹாவீரர் சமணச் சிலை, 13ம் நூற்றாண்டைச் சார்ந்தது.- சிற்றாலயம்..

திருவங்கரணை ஊராட்சி (Thiruvangaranai Gram Panchayat), தமிழ்நாட்டின் காஞ்சிபுரம் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள வாலாஜாபாத் வட்டாரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது.

இந்த ஊராட்சி, உத்திரமேரூர் சட்டமன்றத் தொகுதிக்கும் காஞ்சிபுரம் மக்களவைத் தொகுதிக்கும் உட்பட்டதாகும்.

அந்த சிலை முறையான பராமரிப்பு இல்லாமல், அந்தக் குளக்கரையில் மாடுகளைக் கட்டி வைக்கப் பயன்படும் நிலையில் இருந்துள்ளதை 2019ம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் மாதம் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. சிதிலமடைந்த  இச்சிலையைப்போல பல சிலைகள் தமிழ் நாட்டில் வேறுபாடில்லாமல் எல்லா தாலுக்காக்களில் உள்ள சில சிற்றூர்களிலும் அவ்வப்போது கிடைத்துக்கொண்டே உள்ளதாக வரலாற்று ஆர்வலர்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர்.

 

இக்கிராமத்தின் குளத்திற்கருகே கரைமீது அமைந்துள்ள 13ம் நூற்றாண்டைச் சேர்ந்த இச்சமணச் சிலைக்கு ஒரு சிற்றாலயத்தை அஹிம்சை நடை தொண்டு நிறுவனம், திரு. ஜீவதாஸ் மற்றும் குடும்பத்தினரின் நிதியுதவி கொண்டு ஒரு  சிற்றாலயத்தை Jan – 2023 அன்று நிறுவியுள்ளனர்.

 

சமண சமயம் தமிழ்நாட்டில் ஒரு காலத்தில் செழித்தோங்கியிருந்தது, பல கோயில்களும், சிலைகளும் இருந்தன. ஆனால், இப்போது பல சமண சின்னங்கள் மற்றும் சிலைகள் முறையான பராமரிப்பு இல்லாமல் அழிந்து வருகின்றன. திருவங்கரணை சிலை அவற்றில் ஒன்று. சமண சின்னங்களை பாதுகாக்க வேண்டியது அவசியம், சமணர்களின் அடையாளங்களை பாதுகாக்க வேண்டும் என்ற கோரிக்கை பல வரலாற்று ஆர்வலர்களிடையே எழுந்து அரசின் கவனத்திற்கு கொண்டு வரப்படுவதையும் நாம் செய்தி ஊடகங்கள் வழியே அன்றாடம் கண்டு வருகிறோம்.
