ஓம் ஹ்ரீம் அர்ஹம் ஜம்பூத்வீபத்து பரத க்ஷேத்திரத்து குண்டலபுர நகரத்து நாத வம்சத்து சித்தார்த்த மஹாராஜாவிற்கும், பிர்யகாருணி மஹாதேவிக்கும் உதித்த திருக்குமாரனும் ஒப்பிலா மஹா புருடரும்,  பொன் வண்ணரும் 7 முழம் உயரம் உடையவரும் பரம ஔதாரிக தேகத்தை உடையவரும் 72 வருடம் ஆயுள் உடையவரும், சிம்ம லாஞ்சனத்தை உடையவரும், மாதங்க யக்ஷ்ன், சித்தாயினி யக்ஷியர்களால் சேவிக்கப்பட்டவரும் கௌதமர் முதலிய 11 கணதர பரமேட்டிகளை உடையவரும் 2 நட்கள் ப்ரதிமா யோகம் கொண்டவரும் பாபாபுரி சரோவர மத்தியில் கார்த்திகை கிருஷ்ண சதுர்தசி திதியில் 26 முனிவர்களுடன் பரிநிர்வாணம் அடைந்த வருமான ஸ்ரீவர்த்தமான தீர்த்தங்கர பரம ஜிநேந்திர சுவாமிக்குத் தூய மனம் மொழி மெய்களால் நமோஸ்து! நமோஸ்து! நமோஸ்து!

On 2nd Nov, 2013, on Deepavali day, we planned to celebrate the Lord Mahavir Moksha day at a Jain temple in Canada, during my recent visit to Toronto. We (me and my family members: my wife/son/daughter-in-law/grand son) reached the temple at Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada exactly in the morning. I was really surprised to see both of Jain sects (Digamber & Swethamber) prayer halls at one place. A prayer hall with Digamber idols is on the right side of a common hall and the other with Swethamber idols is in the front of that hall.  After our prayers, were lucky to get some pictures of that temple at Toronto.  We also got some pamphlets from the caretaker of that Toronto temple regarding the full details of the temple history.

Some excerpts from those pamphlets and details about the activities happening in that area to promote Jainism by JSOT are shown here for your reference below: 

The Jain Society of Toronto (JSOT), rich in history of promoting the principle of Ahimsa, continues to place a strong focus on heightening spiritual awareness and promoting Jain ethics within its network. Founded by a visionary group of individuals in 1974, including the current president Arhant Jain, the society has come to encompass a large number of spiritual and community activities.

Having started from only a few local families, the society has now grown to over 500 life and annual Jain members and over 600 families on the mailing list. The hard work and involvement of all their members is reflected in the contributions to the community. From providing a forum for young Jains to learn and discourse about Jainism to playing an instrumental role in affecting and influencing numerous Canadian and international policies, JSOT actively engages in promoting Ahimsa.

The Jain Centre consists of over 10,000 sq. ft, which includes a large prayer hall, library, 2 stages for cultural/religious activities, convening area for pathshala, and meetings as well as kitchen and dining facilities, and a large Gabhara. The Gabhara includes 9 Tirthankar idols, and a Padmavati Mata idol, representing all Jain sects. JSOT celebrates all Jain religious days/periods including Mahavir Jayanti, Paryushan Parva, Swapan Darshan, Dashlakshan Parva, Dadavadi Tirth Yatra, Deepawali, Ayambil and invites Jain scholars, sadhus, Munijis from around the world to help us celebrate, educate and provide spiritual guidance during these times.

JSOT organizes annual social events for members to attend including picnics, meditation weekends, cultural dances, ski camps, and much more. Regular seniors events and activities are enthusiastically held, and their Jain community services group looks after welcoming new members into the sangh, holding Shanti Path during times of condolence, and celebrating/recognizing the achievements and accomplishments of their members.

This temple is open every Sunday from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm. Mahavir Pooja is on every 1st Sunday, Bhakti Group on every 2nd Sunday, Snatra Pooja is on every 3rd Sunday and Samayika is on every 4th Sunday. For visits to the temple during other times, please contact JSOT president.

2013 ம் ஆண்டு கனடா விஜயம் செய்த போது, தீபாவளிப்பண்டிகையை அங்குள்ள ஜிநாலயத்தில் கொண்டாட முடிவு செய்தோம். நான், மனைவி, மகன், மருமகள் மற்றும் பேரன் ஐவரும் 48 ரோஸ்மீடு தெரு , எட்டோபிகோக் ஆண்டோரியா என்ற இடத்தில் உள்ள ஜிநாலயத்திற்கு காலையில் வந்து சேர்ந்தோம். அங்கே திகம்பர் மற்றும் ஸ்வேதாம்பர் பிரிவைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களும் ஒரு சேர அப்பண்டிகையை அவ்வாலயத்தில் கொண்டாடிக் கொண்டிருந்தது வியப்பாக இருந்தது. ஒரு பிரார்த்த்னை கூடத்தின் எதிரே ஸ்வேதாம்பர் தீர்த்தங்கரர் சிலைகளும், வலது புரம் திகம்பர தீர்த்தங்கரர் சிலைகளும் மற்றும் பத்மாவதி மாதா சிலையும் அமைந்திருந்தன. நாங்கள் பிரார்த்தனை செய்ததும் புகைப்படமும், வீடியோ பதிவும் எடுத்துக் கொண்டு அங்கிருந்த ஆலய காப்பாளரிடம் வினவிய போது சில துண்டுப் பிரசுரங்களை தந்து உதவினார். அதில் குற்ப்பிட்டுள்ள விபரங்கள் பின் வருமாறு:

குறைந்த எண்ணிக்கையில் உள்ளூர் இல்லறத்தார்களால் துவங்கப்பட்ட இச்சங்கம் தற்போது 500 ஆயுள் மற்றும் ஆண்டு உறுப்பினர்களையும் , 600 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட குடும்பங்களையும் தன்னுள்ளே கொண்டுள்ளது. கடின உழைப்புடன் உறுப்பினர்கள்  சமூக முன்னேற்றத்தில் பங்களிப் பதிலிருந்து அவர்களது ஈடுபாடு வெளிப்படுகிறது.

1974 ம் ஆண்டு துவங்கப்பட்ட இந்த  டொரண்டொ ஜெயின் சங்கம், அதன் பிரதேசத்தில் அகிம்சை கொள்கையை ஊக்குவிக்கவும், ஆன்மீக விழிப்புணர்வு அதிகரிக்கவும், மற்றும் ஜைன நெறிமுறைகளை வளர்க்கவும் முயற்சி செய்வதே நோக்கமாக கொண்டிருக்கிறது. தற்போதைய தலைவர் அரிஹந்த் ஜெயின் அவ்வழியே ஆன்மீக மற்றும் சமூக நடவடிக்கைகளை பெருமளவில் உயர்த்த முற்படுகிறார். ஜைன இளைஞர்கள் மன்றத்தின் வாயிலாக கனடா மற்றும் சர்வதேச கொள்கையில் அகிம்சையின் நோக்கங்கள் ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டி சமணக் கொள்கைகளை கற்பித்தும், போதித்தும் வருகின்றனர். 

10000 ச.அடி பரப்பில் அமைந்துள்ள இந்த மையம் இரண்டு அடுக்கு தளமாக உள்ளது. மேல் தளத்தில் பிரார்த்தனை கூடம்,கர்ப்பக் கிரஹம், நூலகம், மத மற்றும் கலாச்சார நடவடிக்கைகள் நடத்தவும், கீழ் தளத்தில் சமையல் கூடம், உண்ணும் கூடம், கழிவறை போன்ற வசதிகள் கொண்டது. கர்ப்பக் கிரஹத்தில் 9 தீர்த்தங்கரர்களும், ஸ்ரீபத்மாவதி மாதா சிலையும், அனைத்து பிரிவினருக்கும் பொதுவாக அமைக்கப் பட்டுள்ளது. ஜைனர்களின் பண்டிகைகளான ஸ்ரீமகாவீர ஜெயந்தி, பர்யூஷன் பருவம், ஸ்வப்பன் தர்ஷன், தசலக்ஷண் பருவம், ததாவாடி தீர்த்த யாத்ரா, தீபாவளி போன்ற நாட்களில் சமண போதனைமார்கள், சாதுக்கள், முனிகள், போன்றோரை அழைத்து ஆன்மீக வழிகாட்டுதல்களை போதிக்கின்றனர்.

JSOT சங்கம் சுற்றுலாக்கள், வார தியான வகுப்பு, கலை நிகழ்வுகள், பனிச்சறுக்கு முகாம்கள், போன்ற வற்றை ஆண்டு தோறும் ஏற்பாடு செய்கின்றனர். வயதானவர்களுக்கான நிகழ்வுகள் மற்றும் நடவடிக்கைகள், புதிய உறுப்பினர்கள் வரவேற்பு, ஈமக் கிரியை காலங்களில் சாந்தி நிகழ்வுகள், சாதனைகள் செய்தவர்களை பாராட்டுவது, அங்கீகாரம் தருவதற்கான விளம்பரங்கள் செய்வது போன்ற நடவடிக்கைகளை வளமையாக செய்து வருகின்றனர்.

பிரதி ஞாயிறு தோறும் 10:30 முதல் 2:00 மணிவரை  முதல் ஞாயிறு மகாவீரர் பூஜைக்காகவும், இரண்டாம் ஞாயிறு பக்தி குழுவினருக்காவும், முன்றாம் ஞாயிறு ஸ்நார்த்த பூஜைக்காகவும், நான்காம் ஞாயிறு சாமாயிகத்திற்காகவும் திறந்திருக்கும். மற்ற காலங்களில் விஜயம் செய்தால் மையத்தின் தலைவரை தொடர்பு கொண்டுபின்னர் ஆலயம் செல்ல வேண்டி வரும்.
